In this role, you will:
- Drive academic excellence: Work closely with the Director of Learning to develop and implement a strategic plan for staff development, setting clear annual targets and utilising data to inform decision-making.
- Promote outstanding Learning & Teaching: Collaborate with the Director of Learning to develop and disseminate innovative teaching and learning strategies to raise student achievement in designated subjects.
- Enhance pupil attainment: Embed assessment for learning tools and support the development and implementation of new and revised curriculum.
- Support pupil success beyond the classroom: Plan, support, and deliver engaging intervention and enrichment programs outside of school hours.
- Lead professional development: Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, both for yourself and your colleagues.
- Build strong partnerships: Liaise with a range of educational partners within the school and across the wider community to support student progress and attainment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Fostering a positive and supportive school environment: Create a caring and secure learning environment where pupils feel valued, respected, and inspired.
- Promoting the school's ethos and values: Collaborate with the Principal, Senior Leadership Team, Local Governing Body, and staff to ensure the school's values are upheld and extended into the wider community.
- Driving school improvement: Contribute to School Improvement and Development Planning, consistently implementing agreed policies and initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
- Building strong partnerships: Collaborate with a range of educational partners, both internal and external, to support pupil attainment.
- Engaging the community: Support the school's home and community liaison efforts by actively participating in events.
- Leading and Developing staff: Line manage assigned staff, lead the development of curriculum, uphold trust quality standards, and ensure high levels of pupil achievement.
- Supporting and guiding colleagues: Provide leadership, training, coaching, and development to colleagues in the department.
- Managing pupils: Organise pupils into teaching groups, ensure continuity in learning, identify high-ability and learning support needs, and devise departmental rewards.
- Promoting personalised learning: Encourage the use of teaching and learning strategies to develop pupils competence and confidence.
- Managing resources: Estimate and manage the departmental budget, assess needs in accommodation and resources, and oversee security and stock management.
Personal Attributes:
- A degree (2ii or above) in the relevant subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
- Management qualification.
- Track record of delivering 'outstanding' teaching.
- Innovation & creativity to engage, enthuse & progress learners.
- Effective management of people and a team of professionals within a school setting.
- Use of data to plan and implement intervention strategies to raise academic performance.
- Developing and leading strategies to sustain whole school improvement.
