I have a FANTASTIC opportunity for an EXPERIENCED and COMMITTED individual to become a Deputy Manager within a BRAND NEW children's residential service in Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot.

Deputy Manager Overview:

Salary: £36,504 per annum
Location: Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot (TQ13 postcode)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 5 days a week

**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence and a car**

The role:


  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • To support the manager and team in all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including managing staff teams, and budgets and ensuring that the quality of the services provided meets expected care standards.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Support the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
  • Organise and participate in activities and holidays, ensuring risk assessments have been followed.

The successful candidate:


  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker / Team Leader within a similar social care setting or with Young People ESSENTIAL
  • Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People or equivalent ESSENTIAL
  • Hold a Full UK Manual Driving Licence, due to the nature of the role you may be required to transport the young people ESSENTIAL
  • Children Homes Regulations and Safeguarding Knowledge ESSENTIAL
