The Deputy Team Manager is an opportunity for Social Workers / Occupational Therapists with a passion for development, to specialise in a career in social care management. Committed to improving the quality of delivery, this role will support the Team Manager to achieve positive change.
The post will sit in the Discharge to Assess team in South Essex. This model of practice is ever evolving and developing and as a Deputy team Manager within the team you will be an influencer of change and progression. You will be supporting adults who have recently been discharged from hospital or supporting them to prevent an admission into hospital. The ethos being to support Adults to leave hospital, when safe and appropriate to do so, and continuing their care and assessment out of hospital. Wherever possible Adults will be supported to return to their home for assessment.
You will primarily be based in South Essex however you may be asked to travel outside the county in line with operational demand. This team operates on a 7-day rota basis, you will be required to work one weekend in six and a share of bank holidays for which an additional 6% flat rate allowance will be applied in addition to the basic salary.
We are looking for an individual with significant experience of Social Work / Occupational Therapy practice and a desire to mentor staff and manage individual and team performance and deliver improvements. The ability to build strong working relationships is also key to this role.
The Role
As a Deputy Team Manager, you will be supporting the development of practice, skills and knowledge with the Social Workers and Community Support Workers within the team.
In addition, you will represent the team in a range of meetings both internal and with our partner agencies. You will be working in collaboration with health care professionals and care providers using a multi - disciplinary approach to ensure the adults receive the right support at the right time.

We're also looking for your experience of working in a social care setting, along with the ability to deal with challenging social situations and develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable adults.

This role involves travelling around Essex and beyond. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
