Due to continued growth, we're recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer to join our Design team based in our HQ in Toome, Northern Ireland. The ideal candidate will be involved in the production, quality and management of drawing and specifications to the Operational/Customer requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. ResponsibilitiesCradle to grave Trailer Design using SolidworksDesign of MTO (Made to Order) TrailersProduction and Maintenance of product files and article structures Certify specifications received from the sales department Assist with costing of Products Assist in Development of New Products/Jigs Modify existing products for efficiency and cost reasons Management of Design Changes (through the Design Change Request Process)Manage changes to trailer specifications in line with the current specification change system Assist in improving the efficiency of the design department Ensure all legal requirements are met in relation to Design and Build functionality Maintain the production schedules & cut lists (through the management of the Production Packs) Ensure all functionally checks are completed prior to delivery Contribute to improving production techniques Liaise with and assist Management to ensure Quality and on time Delivery of Product Assist stores personnel with material management issues (e.g. procurement) and cost management (kitting batches/stock levels)Assist with nesting of the parts for plasma through use of computer nesting softwareReport on feedback and improvements through assessing customer concernsAssist with compiling registration documentation for customersUpdating Type Approvals and ensuring the company is compliant with sameAny other duties as reasonably required by management.QualificationsBachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical degreeSolidworks experienceStrong engineering experience preferably trailersKnowledge/ experience of EWVTA/ Type ApprovalStrong organizational and communication skillsGSCE English and Maths at Grade C or above (or equivalent)Exceptionally well developed interpersonal skills with effective presentation and influencing skillsStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenEvidence of effective organisational, planning and time management skillsDemonstrated ability to work to deadlines Superior attention to detailProficient in the use of MS Office Suite, email and the internetAbout McCauley TrailersMcCauley Trailers is a leading manufacturer of agricultural and commercial trailers.
