Design Manager - Plymouth
Rate: �350 per day
Contract Role- 3 months
Our client, a leading UK construction main contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process for a large-scale hospital project in Plymouth. This role will involve managing the design from tender stage through to the start of construction, ensuring cost-effective and innovative solutions while maintaining project efficiency and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative design solutions aligned with client requirements.
- Manage client relationships and expectations throughout the design phase.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, design teams, and key stakeholders to resolve any design queries.
- Oversee contractor proposals, tender documentation, and design submissions.
- Apply value engineering principles to ensure cost-effective design solutions.
- Identify and mitigate design risks, ensuring seamless project execution.
- Lead design team meetings and ensure timely delivery of design information.
- Support bid management processes from initial enquiry to contract award.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, BREEAM, and Passivhaus standards.
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in a relevant construction discipline (essential).
- Strong technical construction knowledge and understanding of building regulations.
- Proven experience in design management within large-scale construction projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is essential.
- Experience with Powerproject Teamplan or similar planning software (desirable).
- Knowledge of estimating software such as Causeway (desirable).
- Professional qualification (e.g., MCIOB) is advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
