With one of the most advanced technology stacks in Europe, and Scale only seen at the likes of Google and Facebook, this technology organisation in London is looking for a Devops Engineering Manager to come and lead a very talented team of individuals.
The role will be a 50%-50% split between Hands on and Managerial expertise. These percentage figures are of completely subjective and would mean different things to different companies but we almost need someone experienced with both.
Although a 50/50 split may appear to suggest more of a Lead role than Management, the core emphasis is someone who has very good Management expertise. Someone who can review code, do 1-2-1's, performance reviews and be involved in the high level Architecture. You will also need to manage stakeholders, VP of Engineering, VP of Advertising, VP of Infrastructure.
In addition to being a great manager, of great engineers, you'll also be required to have extensive technical ability in parallel with your team. You'll be someone who is passionate about modern technology and DevOps principles. You won't want to be in a managerial role where you're paper-pushing, and stakeholder managing all day. You still want to be where the action is, at the coal face. With one of the most advanced technology stacks in Europe, and Scale only seen at the likes of Google and Facebook - you'll want to still be part of the technology, rather than managing people doing all the cool stuff.
We require someone who has a deep understanding of DevOps Engineering, who understands Containers, CI/CD principles, has a deep understanding of how Kubernetes/Mesos/Docker Swarm etc are shaping the industry. The technology stack currently includes AWS, Docker, Spinnaker, Mesos and Kubernetes. It's also evolving every day.The team you'll be leading are responsible for building a next generation platform, for each of the groups brands to build upon. The platform has both Mesos and Kubernetes at the core. The platform is currently in Beta stage, and has been rolled out to 2 European countries, however the next challenge is the scalability globally, and then the constant evolution of the platform.
If you're genuinely curious about technology, have a track record of success and want to work in a collaborative environment with like minded individuals please do get in touch asap. You'll also struggle to find a better culture in London. This is a bona fide great tech company culture, over and above having a fuseball table and casual dress. Please note that no terminology in this advert is intended to discriminate on the grounds of age, and we confirm that we will gladly accept applications from individuals of any age for this role.
