Director of Operations

Our client is a niche global manufacturing business currently seeking an Operations Director due to exponential growth. The Operations Director will be responsible for Operational development and delivery across Production, Supply chain, Warehousing, Distribution, Quality, Health & Safety and Engineering.This role will lead the Operational functions, implementing a culture and working practices of data driven planned activity with a drive for continuous improvement.Candidates should have previous experience in operations leadership roles within manufacturing organisations with a strong supply chain and production background. The ideal candidate will have previously been responsible for leading change and imbedding continuous improvement across a mid-sized organisation. Key Responsibilities:Instill a culture and processes to drive operational continuous improvement and develop the talent within the team to manage accordinglyDevelop the supply chain network to ensure organisation always has secure and competitively priced suppliesBuild robustness into supply chain systems and processesEnsure the company’s ERP system is optimized and fully utilized in production planningChampion data driven continuous improvement to drive production efficiencyDevelop a multi-skilled production workforceManage raw and finished goods stock levels to achieve company stock holding targetsUnderstand the make-up of product BOM costs and work to reduceSupport and lead the development of cost out initiativesOversee negotiation of supplier contractsDevelop and manage budgets and capexSkills and experience:Degree or equivalent with relevant professional qualificationsExtensive operational experienceKaizen and LEAN manufacturing experience, with a track record of delivering continuous improvementA working knowledge of Supply Chain, Logistics and ProductionERP/ MRP experienceAn independent thinker able to take ownership, use their initiativeIT literate and comfortable using data in decision making and KPIsStrong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
