If you re happy in the weeds but want a seat at the leadership table this role could be for you About the company My client is on a mission to end the use of single-use plastics, through easy-to-install, subscription-based, re-fillable water installations. There s already been significant uptake with various pilots running throughout London and the north. They are at a point in which they need to expand this founder-led team to free up more time for sales and expand their reach. The role The focus of this role is to take much of the day-to-day running of the business away from our London-based founder, supporting on a strategic and ground level in terms of internal processes, but also scalability. This is a role with a broad remit but you can expect to be heavily involved in developing our systems and processes around HR/People, Financial/budgeting/fundraising and Business Operations. The immediate priorities include learning and optimising the current day-to-day operations of the business. You ll also take immediate oversight of our budgets and forecasts, as well as contribute to our sales strategy. The future shape of this role really depends on your preferences. This could lead to career development towards COO, or even MD. The future is up to you, and they ll support your career aspirations whatever they may be. Requirements First and foremost you ll need to be onboard with their mission. They ll want to understand why sustainability is the right industry for you. You ll need to already be performing operational tasks within an early-stage startup environment. You ll be working directly with founders and facilitating the successful growth of the business. It s important that you can demonstrate your impact at a commercial level not just optimising internal processes. We don t expect you to have built an operations function before but you must have identified opportunities to improve and lead initiatives yourself. You ll need to show a proactive, curious attitude in identifying opportunities to optimise processes in past positions.
