Our members include 30 world-leading hotel companies and 20 affiliate members across the value chain - with a combined reach of over seven million hotel rooms, 55,000 properties and 300 global brands. We have formal partnerships with more than 50 supply chain and strategic partners, to further drive collaboration on sustainability in the hospitality industry. Purpose of the job The Director of Programmes (Chief of Staff) is a pivotal member of the senior leadership team, responsible for leading and managing the development and implementation of the Alliance s programme and fundraising initiatives. This role requires close collaboration with various departments, members, and external partners and stakeholders to identify needs, create strategic action plans and execute initiatives that align with the organisation s mission, goals, and five-year strategic plan. Main responsibilities and accountabilities Strategic planning and coordination Assist the CEO in developing and implementing strategic initiatives. Coordinate cross-departmental projects and ensure alignment with the organisation s goals. Manage the executive team s priorities, ensuring that strategic objectives are met. Strategic project and programme development and management Lead the creation and execution of comprehensive project and programme development plans. Identify projects and programme needs, develop objectives, and ensure the highest quality standards. Align projects and programme initiatives with the Alliance s strategic goals and Net Positive Hospitality commitments. Oversee special projects and initiatives from conception to completion. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget. Identify and mitigate project risks. Executive support Prepare briefing materials and reports for the CEO. Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Communication Serve as a liaison between the CEO and other executives, employees and external stakeholders. Facilitate internal communication to ensure smooth information flow within the organisation. Draft internal and external operational communications on behalf of the CEO. Operational efficiency Streamline processes and improve operational efficiencies within the executive office. Implement best practices and standard operating procedures. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure continuous improvement. Decision support Conduct research and analysis to support decision-making processes. Provide insights and recommendations based on data and trends. Prepare and review documents for executive meetings. Team leadership Lead and mentor support staff. Build and maintain a high-performing team. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Crisis Management Assist in managing crises and high-stakes situations. Develop and implement crisis communication plans. Ensure that the organisation is prepared for and can respond effectively to emergencies. Fundraising and resource mobilisation Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies. Identify and secure new funding sources, cultivate donor relationships and obtain grants and sponsorships. Ensure sustainable financial support for the Alliance s goals. Budget and resource management Create and manage budgets and timelines for programme and fundraising initiatives. Allocate resources efficiently to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Stakeholder engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, inc. donors, partners and programme participants. Represent the Alliance in various forums, enhancing its visibility and reputation. Monitoring and evaluation Monitor and evaluate the performance of programmes and fundraising efforts. Collect and analyse data to inform decision-making and improve initiatives. Prepare and present detailed reports and recommendations to the Board and other stakeholders. Person specification Qualifications Bachelor s or Master s degree in a related field (e.g., Environmental Science, Business Administration, Project Management). Experience Recognised expert in sustainability with extensive experience in the hospitality sector. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful projects and programmes. Strong experience in securing partnerships and project financing. Skills and abilities Exceptional project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Highly motivated with a determination to advance the Alliance s projects and programmes. Personal attributes Visionary thinking with a commitment to sustainability and responsible hospitality. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships. Ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
