EC&I Responsible Engineer

Posted a month ago

We have an exciting new opportunity for an EC&I RESPONSIBLE ENGINEER to be based in our clients offices in Warrington, Cheshire.

About the Project:

The Windscale Piles were built in the 1940s by the Ministry of Defence to produced material for the UK weapons programme. Both reactors were closed down following a fire in Pile 1 in 1957. Pile 2 was de-fuelled but, as a result of damage caused by the fire, and attempts to clear the reactor channels, some inventory remains in Pile 1. A sequence of prioritised decommissioning tasks has now been commenced that will see the demolition and ultimate remediation of the Complex completed over the coming decades.

The B6 SPIDA platform is a purpose designed and built structure to aid the controlled demolition of the B6 Barrel (chimney) on the Sellafield site. The platform has been designed for the purpose of providing a safe working base for the demolition staff and equipment during the cutting and dismantling of the Barrel structure. The Barrel structure provides horizontal and vertical support to the platform during operation and is integral to the design stability.

About the Role:

The individual will provide design oversight of CE&I design work to be undertaken within the B6 Demolition Project and Pile 1 Fuel and Isotopes and will work with the Beta / Gamma CE&I Responsible Engineer to ensure that individual work packages are appropriately managed and executed.
