Effluent Water Treatment Engineer – North West England/North Wales - £40,000 to £55,000
My client Design, Install, Refurbish and Maintain water plants and systems to treat Effluent and Wastewater. In this role, you will have a range of responsibilities centred around the design, implementation, and management of effluent treatment systems. These systems are crucial for treating wastewater and industrial effluent to remove contaminants before the water is released back into the environment or reused.
This role covers projects in the North West of England and North Wales. Candidates must be open to commuting as this is a field based role. Van, Phone and Laptop will be provided. Included in the package is a project bonus.
Role and Duties:
- Design and Development: Designing and developing effluent treatment plants (ETP) and systems. This includes selecting appropriate treatment technologies based on the type of effluent, the contaminants present, and regulatory requirements.
- Project Management: Overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to installation, commissioning, and handover. This involves managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that the effluent treatment processes comply with local and national environmental regulations. This includes obtaining necessary permits and ensuring that treated effluent meets required standards.
- Safety Management: Ensuring that all activities comply with health and safety regulations. This includes identifying potential hazards, implementing safety protocols, and conducting regular safety audits.
- Maintenance and Upkeep: Overseeing the maintenance of the effluent treatment plant to ensure it operates efficiently and effectively. This includes scheduling regular inspections and maintenance activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating with various stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and community groups. This may involve preparing and presenting reports, attending meetings, and addressing concerns related to the effluent treatment process.
- Standard Process Operations: Maintenance of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and sewage treatment plants, including wastewater treatment processes like SBR, MBR, MBBR, trickling filters, and conventional activated sludge process.
- Project Implementation: Involvement in the installation and commissioning of wastewater projects (STP, WTP, and ETP), including design and evaluation of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Operations and Maintenance: Supervising plant maintenance activities, ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment, and implementing plant preventive maintenance plans.
- Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE): Ensuring policies are adequately implemented, including local staff training and supervision.
- Client and Project Management: Assisting clients in process engineering matters related to water treatment plants (WTP) or wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), managing budgets, schedules, and deliverables for water and wastewater services.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant Industry Experience Required
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
- A Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field can be advantageous for a senior role
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status through institutions like the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) can be highly beneficial.
- Membership or accreditation from relevant professional bodies such as the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
- Practical experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of effluent treatment systems.
- Experience with UK-specific environmental regulations and standards.
- Project management experience, preferably in the environmental or wastewater sectors.
- Familiarity with software tools used in process design and simulation.
- Understanding of UK and EU environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
