My client the Global Workplace & leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management is recruiting

We require an EHS Manager to join the team located in Shropshire (Client side). The successful candidate be responsible for the Environmental, Occupational Health Service and Safety Management Systems ensuring correct standards are in place for employees associated tox2 sites in the area

The role

Develop and Issue EHS Safety Management Systems supported by documents according to best practice.

Collaborate with the UK EHS manager providing leadership to the site management team ensuring compliance with all site-relevant EHS legislation including DSEAR & COSHH.

Proactively develop the HSE culture on site - by monitoring performance, legal compliance and identifying areas for improvement.

Support all business areas ensuring EHS risk assessments are in place including assisting in updating and generating additional when applicable.

Audit the effectiveness of the EHS Management System and report issues to the UK EHS & on-site management team.

Support and mentor managers in all areas of HSE management and investigate root causes of incidents/near misses/ hazards and recommend improvements.

Review, audit and update policies, procedures and other EHS documentation in line with changes in the business and all new legislation or because of recommendations arising from an accident/investigation/audit.

Participate in regular inspections and audits identifying potential hazards, unsafe practices and areas of improvements. Communicate audit results to management.

Occupational Health Surveillance - liaise with OH Provider and follow up on recommendations.

Develop Programmes and coach regional trainers for Preventive Programmes

Liaise with insurers and UK legal for relevant company liability claims, property protection etc.

Organise and implement a standardised personal protective programme to ensure suitable and compliant personal protective equipment is provided.

Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.

Lead site operatives with Dangerous Goods compliance guidance and training as necessary to ensure appropriate compliance

You will have;

NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Essential) NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (Desirable) Educated to degree level.

Knowledge to undertake site inspections, risk assessments and audits and make sound business recommendations for improvements based on risk.

Excellent working knowledge of HSE legislation and guidance; ISO14001 Environmental Management System along with OSHAS 18001

Knowledge of ATEX environments and DSEAR requirements (Desirable)

Experience within a Chemical manufacturing environment

Experience working in ATEX environments (Desirable)

Ability to interpret data, information, and legal requirement to ensure compliance and write control procedures.

Experience of undertaking accident investigations, root cause analysis and statutory reporting

Experience of conducting machinery risk assessments

Experience of developing safe working procedures and ensuring competency of employees
