Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Technician – Power Station

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technicians to join a new build energy from waste power station in Aberdeen. The EC&I Technicians will be responsible for the execution of all EC&I maintenance activities across the site to ensure maximum plant availability.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the EC&I Team Leader, responsibilities will include:


  • Fault finding, repair work and planned and unplanned maintenance on all EC&I assets to maximise plant availability. This includes pressure, level, temperature and flow sensors, control systems and electrical equipment such as motors and variable speed drives etc
  • Working alongside other Technicians to ensure an accurate daily schedule is produced and worked to
  • Supervising and directing site contractors when required
  • Assisting during site outages / shutdowns
  • Identifying areas of improvement to improve plant efficiency and reliability
  • Maintaining accurate records using the site CMMS


Experience and Qualifications


  • An apprenticeship in electrical/instrumentation engineering or similar
  • A relevant engineering qualification at NVQ/ONC/C&G level
  • Proven hands-on maintenance experience across electrical, control and instrumentation maintenance in a heavy process environment – power plant, refinery, paper mill, steel works, chemical or manufacturing site etc.
  • Practical hands-on maintenance experience with electrical plant, DCS, PLCs and a variety of instrumentation
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., health and safety and environmental etc.
