Electrical Design Engineer - Must have a water industry background to be considered
Location: Initially Southampton then able to work remote
Contract: 6 months
Rate: Up to �500 Per day (depending on experience and references)
Start Date: Mid-April
Our client, based on the South Coast, has secured a significant project and is seeking multiple Electrical Design Engineers to join their team in Southampton. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working on Water/Wastewater projects and hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

Role Overview:


As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Electrical Design Engineer will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of electrical design within various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage project-specific design deliverables.
  • Ensure all designs comply with M&E Design QA Procedures and client standards.
  • Interpret and implement client requirements from drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and external design teams to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct site surveys of existing assets.
  • Perform optioneering and feasibility studies.
  • Assist with tender pricing.
  • Prepare procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings for electrical equipment.
  • Manage third-party designs and support installation and commissioning teams.
  • Review vendor control system Functional Design Specifications for compliance.
  • Assess vendor data and drawings for electrical equipment, including motor control centres, power distribution panels, and field equipment panels.
  • Oversee design cost management in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Conduct and verify design calculations, including power system modelling (AMTECH).
  • Develop process control philosophies alongside Process Engineers and suppliers.
  • Produce electrical scope documents and works enquiry submissions.
  • Estimate material and labour costs.
  • Carry out design risk assessments.
  • Prepare detailed electrical specifications.
