Role: Electrical Design Engineer (Large Scale Solar PV & BESS) 

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000

Location: Colchester (Hybrid)

Additionally, they provide highly specialised energy management and downstream services to both energy producers and consumers, using their expertise to manage third-party assets from a technical and operational perspective.

Responsibilities:


  • Ensure project engineering activities comply with company guidelines and support the engineering team.
  • Design PV power plants & BESS projects, carrying out energy yield and solar resource assessments according to given guidelines.
  • Assist the project team in developing specifications to optimize PV power plant design, including component selection, module string sizing, layout design, collector routing design, and conductor sizing.
  • Produce and interpret technical drawings for solar power plants using CAD software.
  • Develop PV power plant single line diagrams.
  • Extract quantities from existing drawings.
  • Create technical presentations for the produced designs.
  • Conduct site land surveys and prepare site survey reports.
  • Coordinate engineering-related tasks with third-party consultants when required.
  • Interface with all engineering departments/disciplines as required.

Requirements:


  • Adequate technical knowledge of PV power plants, battery energy storage, and basic electrical engineering concepts.
  • Ability to extract technical data from equipment data sheets and project documents.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering. Working towards a master’s degree in engineering (electrical, renewable energy) is an asset.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, QGIS).
  • Basic knowledge of PVsyst/PV Case.
