Electrical Design Engineer

Purpose of jobOur aim is to become a market leader in the provision of Electric Vehicle charging solutions to Local Authorities and Businesses as part of our strategy to lead the transition to zero carbon.The goal is to undertake an ambitious electric vehicle charging installation program, deploying high volume and quality EV installations across the nation. Our aim is to make the world a better place, one charge point at a time.The Electrical Design Engineer will work within Zest’s Operations team to produce preliminary and detailed engineering designs, up to 132kv, liaising with DNOs, to ensure the successful integration of Zest’s projects into the wider network.Key AccountabilitiesThe role is responsible for the following:Produce Electrical designs ranging from 11kv to 132kvLiaise closely with external parties, including DNOs, contractors, and clients, plus other internal stakeholders and project teams to ensure the design approval and construction processes run smoothlyPartner with the Commercial team on developing new projectsExperience of producing project cost estimates and reports, obtaining technical or major procurement item quotationsRepresenting the design team when presenting to clients, with commercial acumenSupporting the whole project lifecycle, attending sites as required as part of the design and planning processesQuality checking and signing off on worksMentoring and training junior members of the teamExperience working with design software such as AutoCADPlus any other duties as required by the leadership teamOutcome, Results and Key performance indicatorsSuccessful installation of EV charging pointsCompliance with health and safety regulationsPositive feedback from stakeholdersKey RelationshipsInternal – Operations team, Commercial team, Leadership teamExternal – DNOs, Local Authorities, Contractors, Sub-ContractorsKnowledge and SkillsPrevious experience as a Electrical Design Engineer, with HV experienceExperience working with a DNO/ IDNO to attain design approvalStrong understanding of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and their application in this roleExperience working on mixed use and change of land use sitesBehavioursSafety consciousDetail orientatedSelf-motivatedInclusiveCommercially focusedQualificationsDegree in Electrical Engineering or equivalentCDM AwarenessNEBOSH Construction Certificate (Desirable)Zest is an equal opportunity employer, committed to the values and ultimately societal benefits of diversity, equity, and inclusion.We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship at this time, therefore all applicants must have full right to work in the UK.
