Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading provider of hydrogen fuel cell power systems to generate clean energy in support of the global energy transition. We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join its team on a permanent, full-time basis and to help deliver on the company's long-term success.

The Electrical Design Engineer will work within the Stack and Systems team to develop electrical systems inside fuel cell power generation systems currently under development.

The role involves designing, implementing, and testing high and low-voltage electrical systems, as well as supporting broader system design activities such as requirements capture and product compliance efforts.

The role holder will ensure electrical systems meet safety, reliability, and compliance requirements while adhering to industry best practices for complex mechatronic/electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement electrical systems with best practice architectures for high voltage and low voltage systems.
  • Size and select electrical power and signal distribution components (active and passive) including connectors, bus bars, cables, safety devices, and converter power electronics devices.
  • Participate in systems design activities including requirements analysis to capture functional, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Define test-cases to meet feature and functional requirements of electrical systems and execute necessary testing of electrical components.
  • Perform root-cause analysis to resolve technical issues on electrical systems.

Requirements & Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage power generation systems architectures, for example from stationary or mobile applications.
  • Experience integrating and testing high-voltage electrical systems ideally in the range of (Apply online only) V DC.
  • Experience developing electrical system schematics.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for the safety and reliability of electrical systems.
  • Working understanding of electrical components such as batteries, power electronics, electric machines, as well as analogue and digital electronics.
