Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
Possess a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
Candidates without a degree who can nevertheless provide proof of relevant experience might also be taken into consideration.
Job Description:
Evaluates and accepts high level electrical specifications, including testability.
Examines and converts high-level specifications into an electrical system or component's verified design.
Captures quality attributes (tradeable) and applicable design constraints (must meet conditions) that relate to the system/component.
Documents constraints and requirements in accordance with the project's interface and requirement management procedures (e.g., requirements captured in IBM DOORS).
Creates and executes electrical designs in accordance with design inputs.
Contributes to the definition of verification activities with the verification team.
Examines electrical designs for functional behaviour; to show that the design satisfies the high-level requirements, modelling and simulation may be used. creates and evaluates electrical tests that will offer proof that the electrical specifications have been met.
Together with managers, takes part in and supports capacity planning and the creation of long-term strategic goals for the team.
Recognises and reduces risks.
Creates, puts into practice, records, and upholds policies, procedures, related guidelines, instruments, and training as needed.
Acquires the expertise necessary to counsel, assist, and/or advise project teams and/or integrated product teams (IPT).
As assigned, speaks on behalf of the electrical engineering department in working groups, meetings, and integrated project teams.
When necessary, collaborates with other engineering teams within the power plant to provide standardisation and a commoditized approach to the development of systems and components.
Maintains quality throughout the lifecycle of the SMR project by conducting the necessary technical reviews and supplying the necessary electrical engineering inputs to the project technical review gates.
Discussions regarding the electrical system design with prospective clients, suppliers, and the nuclear safety regulator, among other external organisations.
While prior nuclear industry experience is preferred, a track record of successfully managing electrical system lifecycles in regulated industries (such as nuclear, defence, aerospace, rail, automotive, oil & gas, etc.) would be advantageous for the position.
Understanding and expertise in the methodical design lifecycle of electrical systems, encompassing safety electrical system specification, design, evaluation, verification, testing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance. This is highly desirable, along with having a solid understanding of electrical power distribution systems and their components.
Familiarity with common electrical design standards and codes.
Expertise and experience in overseeing the creation of design solutions using a strong design process, from the first concept to the detailed design definition.
This includes knowledge of trade-off studies to guarantee the best possible design solution is generated.
This is advantageous in addition to having knowledge of and experience with applying Model Based Systems Engineering and other systems engineering methodologies to C&I systems.
Expertise and experience in using the right analysis techniques to support the definition of concepts and provide evidence for design decisions.
Proficiency in gathering data, comprehending it, and articulating it in a suitable and captivating manner, encompassing official correspondence with relevant parties.
