Role: Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £40-45,000

Location: Birmingham

Shift pattern:  39 Hours a week – (DAYS) 8am-4pm Mon-Thurs ~ 8am -3pm Friday!

The client requires someone who is a team player with an open mind, a good work ethic, willing to get stuck in & bring knowledge to the company. You will need to have good organisational skills & work well under pressure. Most importantly you will need to work safely, in accordance with Health & Safety legislation.

The hours are 08:00-16:00 Monday to Thursday & 08:00-15:00 Fridays, including a 30-minute dinner break. 39 hours per week total.

Salary per year will be between £40,000 and £45,000 dependant on experience.

Role Responsibility
As the successful Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the following 


  • Respond to production breakdowns quickly & efficiently. Support in the repair and maintenance of plant and machinery i.e., carrying out any repairs/maintenance to plant, hydraulics and PLCs etc.
  • Reduce plant breakdowns
  • Identify & solve problems to provide long term solutions
  • Be involved in the design and development of new machinery installations
  • Keep up to date & accurate drawings & paperwork
  • Ensure health& safety practices are always adhered to
  • Undertake risk assessment and associated paperwork, where required, of the relevant activities to ensure a suitable and effective safe system of work
  • Carry out planned maintenance checks
  • Be flexible to undertake emergency repairs where and when these occur.

The Ideal Candidate


  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Holds 18th Edition in Wiring Regulation qualifications.
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience as a qualified Mechanical Electrician.
  • Can use your own initiative and to communicate with our internal maintenance team.
  • Good technical knowledge of maintain production systems
  • Capable of reading and working to engineering/technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of power presses is an advantage
  • Have good overall mechanical knowledge
  • Experience of maintaining industrial hydraulics & pneumatics is an advantage
  • Have proven experience of fault finding on PLC and control systems
