Electrical Project Engineer

Job DescriptionProject Engineer (Electrical)Sector: Renewable EnergyContract: 12-18 monthsRate: ExcellentLocation: Hybrid (4 days in Central London/on site, 1 day home office)Required Experience: 5-10 years in renewables, grid, or energy generation (e.g., gas peaking plants, energy storage, wind, solar)Responsibilities:Design Coordination:Oversee electrical engineering design packages.Manage and resolve design issues.Lead design coordination meetings.Update project team on design progress.Ensure timely and accurate delivery of design deliverables.Document Control:Manage and ensure correct use of all electrical drawings and calculations.Communication:Relay design information between contractors and site teams.Conduct regular site visits during the construction phase.Design Development:Support future project designs and contractor evaluations for battery and hydrogen-ready gas plants.Owner’s Engineer Role:Review and approve electrical design work.Conduct earthing designs, protection, fault levels, and grid studies.High-Level Specification:Provide specifications for transformers, switchgear, etc.Represent the company in meetings with stakeholders.Additional Skills (Preferred):Knowledge of 275kV substation design and electrical safety up to 400kV.Experience with gas peaking plant construction.Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD Design.Ability to liaise with DNOs and National Grid.Key Personal Characteristics:Attention to detailStrong communication skillsAbility to build relationships with both office-based and site-based teamsQualifications:MEng in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
