Electrical Test and Inspection Lead - Hinkley Point
About the Role
Working with a leading contractor I am recruiting for an Electrical Test and Inspection Lead to join their team at Hinkley Point. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a significant infrastructure project and advance your career.
What Youll Be Doing
As an Electrical Test and Inspection Lead, your responsibilities will include:
• Adhering to and implementing safety systems in strict compliance with relevant legislation, including The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Electrical at Work Regulations 1989, and Electricity Safety Quality And Continuity Regulations 2002.
• Acting as the subject matter expert for on-site testing and inspection of electrical installations, including I&C and building services systems.
• Supporting installation teams in applying BS7671 and RCC-E requirements for testing and inspection of electrical systems.
• Assisting planning teams in monitoring the status of testing and inspection of electrical installations.
• Supporting both on-site project leadership and off-site electrical delivery partner engineering and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) teams in the safe management of electrical energy at Hinkley Point C.
• Representing the company in relevant stakeholder meetings concerning electrical testing and inspection.
• Engaging with NNB engineering, project management, and planning teams to promote realistic scheduling for energisation timelines.
• Ensuring electrical systems intended for energisation are fit for purpose, with complete supporting documentation, and implementing safety measures to protect people and plant when working on or near live electrical services.
• Assessing the competencies of personnel involved in work on or near live electrical services, ensuring safety documents are appropriate and that recipients are competent to handle them.
• Acting as the responsible person and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the project, supporting updates to electrical safety procedures.
• Providing reports and support to the Construction Manager regarding electrical testing and inspection.
• Assisting the quality team in developing inspection and test plans for electrical inspection and testing activities.
Who Were Looking For
We are looking for candidates with:
• Significant experience in electrical testing and inspection.
• A strong working knowledge of electrical safe systems of work, including lock-out and isolation procedures.
• Excellent knowledge of BS7671 testing requirements.
• BS7671 18th edition qualification.
• City & Guilds 2391 (18th edition).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Up-to-date knowledge of workplace and construction health and safety.
• A Degree, HND, or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or suitable work experience).
• Proficiency in IT and MS Office software.
• Current construction health and safety training.
• A valid CSCS / ECS card or equivalent.
