Job Purpose:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conducting electrical engineering operations to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and minimal wastage. This role also encompasses ensuring a safe working environment for all colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing Inspections:
Regularly inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
Diagnosing Problems:
Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and identify root causes of issues, whether they are reactive or part of planned maintenance.
Repairing Faults:
Conduct repairs on electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure they are functioning correctly and safely.
Responding to Emergencies:
React promptly to emergency calls and resolve electrical issues to minimise downtime and maintain safety.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other members of the maintenance team, as well as with engineers from other disciplines, to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve complex issues.
Communication:
Maintain clear and open communication with stakeholders, including colleagues, supervisors, clients, and contractors, regarding maintenance activities, progress, and any potential issues.
Compliance with Regulations:
Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to relevant health and safety regulations, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Implementing Preventive Maintenance:
Follow scheduled maintenance plans to perform routine checks, servicing, and replacements to prevent breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of electrical equipment.
Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, replacements, and tests, to track the performance and condition of electrical systems over time.
Emergency Response Planning:
Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans to effectively handle electrical emergencies and minimise risks to personnel and property.
Other Duties:
Perform any other duties assigned in line with the scope and seniority of the role.

Demonstrate and uphold company values.
Essential:
Specific skill-based qualification to level 3 or higher, OR have at least 5 years of field-based experience.
Experience with 3 phase systems/equipment.
18th edition certification.
Desirable:
Ideally possess an NVQ or equivalent in the core role.
Additional field-based skill qualifications.
2391 Test and Inspection certification.
Health and Safety First Aid (3-day) training.
Confined Space Trained.
Experience working with water control assets on rivers and waterways.
Further Aspects of the Role:
There may be occasional requirements to work away, typically Monday - Friday with weekends at home.
Training and Development: Stay updated on the latest developments in electrical engineering, technologies, and maintenance techniques through training and professional development activities.
Testing and Calibration: Conduct tests, measurements, and calibrations on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements in electrical maintenance practises.
