Employee Relations Adviser in Islington!

Postcode: N1 1XR

Pay rates : £29.51 per hour

Shift pattern : Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00: Hybrid

Key responsibilities:

To provide a high quality end to end Human Resources advice, guidance and support service to the Headteacher, Governors, School Business Managers, staff and related stakeholders.

  • Provide high quality professional HR advice and guidance to senior managers on complex staffing issues relating to both individuals and groups of staff.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with supported leaders and other stakeholders, to ensure HR advice supports delivery of positive outcomes.
  • Build successful partnership working with the trade unions on individual and collective matters establishing productive and proactive dialogue with employees, their representatives to develop services, facilitate change, resolve conflict and promote a positive working environment.
  • Provide expert advice to Headteachers/Leaders on the application of the school's policies, pay and conditions of service, and on the legal and best practice implications of employment issues. Supporting and undertaking casework on a wide range of human resources issues, including discipline, capability, absence, grievance.
  • Provide guidance to line managers on how to manage potential ER issues at the informal stage prior to any formal action and necessary follow-on actions, promoting good people management practices across the organisation.
  • Providing expert professional advice at hearings including Dismissal Appeals, reviewing the cases, looking at the processes followed to date and highlighting policy and legislative implication. Support at Employment Tribunals where necessary liaising with legal colleagues.
  • Responsible for ensuring provision of quality HR MI, ensuring all HR records held are accurate, up to date and meet current and future organisational objectives for workforce and HR record keeping.

Qualifications:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of advising on and supporting restructures, redundancies, TUPE and re- deployment as well as good knowledge of ET processes.
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment and building positive and productive relationships with unions.
  • Experience of providing high quality professional HR advice and guidance on complex employment issues.
  • Good working knowledge of current employment legislation and its application in the workplace.
  • Ability to maintain an up to date knowledge of HR best practice, trends and employment legislation.
