Role: Engineering ManagerIndustry: FinTech Location: UK Remote Salary: £100,000 - £105,000 basic Benefits: 6k car allowance, 18% bonus, 9% non-contributory pensions, shares The company: Wedo has partnered with a global leader in digital payment technology, facilitating more than $150 billion to over 180 countries, working with banks, financial institutions and FinTech’s around the world, including Starling Bank and Revolut.The team: In the last 6 months, they’ve grown their Engineering Manager community by an additional 7 EM’s and they’re looking to add 3 more. You will be reporting to a Director of Engineering and leading a team of 4+ software engineers, 2QAs, a Delivery Manager a Product Manager, and lead their FX team. Leading FX Risk team: Manage and mitigate risks associated with foreign exchange transactions. Requires experience in leading contract, multi-located teams to deliver a new greenfield project.How they define the EM role:If you follow Pat Kua and his 5 Engineering Manager Archetypes, they see their role in between the Tech Lead Manager and the Team Lead Manager. They believe that their managers must have a technical background to have productive conversations with their engineers, but they don’t expect you to be coding all the time. Your experience: Experienced Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or Team Lead in a regulated environment Mathematically minded and comfortably processes lots of financial data Must have experience leading near-shore contract teams Experience working with high-availability environments Must have extensive Systems design thinking that includes scalability, disaster recovery, containerization, automation, observability and clustered systems.Passionate about quality with comprehensive test coverage (unit, component, integration, and contract tests).Experience working for Product-oriented organisations and experience working with strong product managers on complex products.A software development background in either Java, Scala, or Ruby.
