Purpose of RoleTo manage the development of new technology platforms, that allows ATL to win new business and shorten NPI (New Product Introduction) project timelines. In addition, manage the IP relating to Internal Research & Development (IR&D), NPI and other activities to maximise the benefits to ATL as well as manage a team of subject matter experts to support New Product Introduction, IR&D, New Business Opportunities.ResponsibilitiesIdentify areas which are appropriate for development of new technology platforms internally or externally to ATL. Develop and manage IR&D roadmap for ATL.Collaborate on IR&D project outliners/proposals for in-house or external projects.Take a leading role in managing IR&D projects to ensure ATL remains relevant and competitive within the marketplace. Manage IP, including liaison with external consultants and with other group company representatives. Develop IP roadmap for ATL for each Business Unit.Ensure effective transfer of information gained from IR&D activities into subsequent NPI activities. This to include the latest surgical device, imaging, and point of care advancements and market trends.Support ATL sales and costing teams when bidding for NBO’s with a novel technology requirement.Manage team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support all NPI business units as required.Manage and contribute to the writing and updating of business process documents as required.Technology Assessment: Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and platforms to determine their relevance and suitability for ATL. This involves assessing the potential benefits, risks, and costs associated with technology adoption.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including research and development, marketing, sales, operations and IT, to facilitate the integration of technology and innovation into different aspects of the business.Project Management: Oversee IR&D projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This involves managing project teams and resources.Budget Management: Manage the budget allocated for IR&D and SME team initiatives, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support these projects.Vendor and Partner Relations: Build relationships with technology vendors, research institutions, and other partners to leverage external expertise, resources, and technologies.Where work requires support the quality system and manage and participate in Corrective and Preventive actions (CAPA) Establish links with academics to develop knowledge and solutions to engineering problems faced in product development and manufacturing. Support applications for research funding opportunities.Comply with and work within all current H&S rules and guidelines.Work in accordance with Company Quality Standards, procedures, processes and comply with the requirements of GMP and GDP.Adhere to and implement the behaviours, policies and procedure of the company as laid out in the Employee Handbook.All other essential related duties as required.Education/Qualifications: Good honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant degree for the rolePostgraduate Degree, e.g. MEng, MSc or PhDBehaviours/Skills/Experience:5+ years' post-graduation relevant experience3+ years of experience managing engineering staffIdeally at least 3 years medical device design or development experience and/or research collaboration with universitiesGood analytical skillsPresentation skillsMathematical skillsBenefitsHybrid workingBonus scheme10% non contributory pensionUp to 33 day holiday (includes Bank Holidays)Employee Assistance ProgramPrivate Health CareLife AssuranceBenefits Portal with online discounts and cash backWhat you should know about us:We believe there is a better way to bring medical devices to market.
