Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in English for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5 students.
Develop and implement schemes of work in line with the National Curriculum and school policies.
Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to foster a love of literature, language, and critical thinking.
Support students in achieving academic success by providing high-quality teaching and tailored interventions.
Mark and assess students' work, providing constructive feedback to promote progress and attainment.
Curriculum Development:
Contribute to the development and evaluation of the English curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
Stay informed about changes in curriculum guidelines and examination requirements.
Develop and share high-quality teaching resources to enhance departmental effectiveness.
Classroom Management:
Establish high expectations for behaviour and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
Implement school behaviour policies effectively to promote mutual respect and responsibility.
Ensure the safety and welfare of all students within the classroom and school environment.
Professional Development and Collaboration:
Participate in departmental meetings, staff briefings, and whole-school events as required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of teaching strategies.
Attend and engage in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy.
Parental Engagement:
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
Participate in parent evenings and provide constructive feedback on student performance.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
A degree in English or a related subject.
Evidence of recent professional development is desirable.
