We prioritise safety in everything we do.Role Overview.This multi-faceted role encompasses environment, health and safety management for both the Begbroke Science Park site and the new Oxford Airport site. The focus is to provide Health and Safety to the Company, and to work with the operation teams to improve the company’s current environment, health and safety systems and bring improvement. You will be accountable for all measurement, management and implementation of our Health, Safety and Environmental Policies. Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Key responsibilities. Establish and maintain robust health, safety, and environment management systems including ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO9001Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, including site construction regulations, waste management, and COSHH. Develop effective policies, procedures, and training packages to ensure compliance and promote a strong health and safety culture across the organization.Review and conduct risk assessments and design strategies to minimize hazards in the workplace. Generate SSOW based on the findings of risk assessments. Record and deliver all accidents, incidents and near misses including the identification of root causes and the implementation and tracking of corrective plan;Ensure the company work equipment compliance (PUWER, LOLER etc) by maintaining a register of all work environment and ensuring all statutory maintenance, examinations etc as conducted;Engaging across the sites, implementing health and safety policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation. To liaise with employees, subcontractors and suppliers on Health and Safety matters as required. Coaching and supporting R&D and engineering teams to generate new solutions to common, everyday H&S related issues.Working closely with the COO to ensure the organisation's H&S strategy is implemented successfully.To support COO with any occupational health issues.Communicating positive H&S performance effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.Host a monthly H&S meeting; Conducting training, toolbox talks, inductions and investigating incidents where required.Undertaking audits and inspections of the site, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on the findings.Develop training and competency metrices for all staffEngage employees in safety initiatives and promote well-being in the workplace. To undertake any other H&S duties and responsibilities as required in order to maintain and/or improve the safety of the company Qualifications and experience.To be successful you will ideally have:·
Demonstrated experience in health and safety management within relevant industries, preferably chemical or engineering.·
Comprehensive knowledge of UK statutory legislation related to health, safety, and environmental management. ·
Development, management and audit of health and safety management systems to a minimum of HSG65·
Passion for health, safety, and well-being, with the ability to drive initiatives independently. ·
Experience of undertaking formal risk assessments in an engineering and/or R&D environment ·
Experience of writing work instruction and SSOW ·
Experience of work equipment safety including PUWER and associated risk assessments.·
Experience of producing and delivering training course/tool box talks and the management of competency matrices (desirable)·
Experience of identifying possible solutions to mitigate hazards highlighted with unacceptable risk·
Experience of accident investigation and application of Root Cause Analysis ·
Background in chemical, engineering and/or R&D (desirable) ·
Knowledge and experience of the development and internal audit safety management systems based on legislation and ISO 45001, 14001.(desirable) ·
Knowledge of explosive regulations 2014 (desirable)·
Strong organizational skills, capable of prioritizing multiple projects effectively.·
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.·
NEBOSH Diploma and other relevant H&S qualifications·
Full driving license·
Excellent communications skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people·
Commitment to continuous professional development·
Use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint·
Strong written and verbal communication e.g. report writing, briefings, and presentation skills ·
Influence and persuading skills ·
