We are looking for a knowledgeable Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager who possesses in depth knowledge and understanding of EHS regulations, standards and best practices.You will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment and will demonstrate strong leadership skills to develop site safety culture and engagement.Your ResponsibilitiesThe EH&S Manager will provide comprehensive EHS support, drive strategy implementation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in line with business objectives. This role champions a safe working environment, ensuring adherence to all H&S requirements and procedures, and serves as the primary EHS contact for the site.Responsibilities include identifying and embedding initiatives to enhance the safety culture, which encompasses employee well-being. The manager will analyse accident, incident, and near-miss data to identify trends and implement preventive measures. They will lead investigations, record and report all accidents and near-miss incidents, and ensure thorough root cause analysis.The role involves developing and implementing policies and procedures in collaboration with Production, Logistics, Quality, Maintenance, and other site staff to address procedural compliance gaps. The manager will drive EHS training and communication across the site, own environmental management systems to monitor and mitigate environmental impacts, and establish safety audits, site walks, and inspections to foster continuous improvement in safety and environmental standards.Managing and continuously improving ISO14001 accreditations and working towards ISO45001 accreditation are key tasks. The manager will ensure legal compliance related to EHS matters, update management on new legislation, and establish risk assessments for all operational activities, including documentation and training.Additional responsibilities include developing emergency business continuity plans, providing reports on safety initiatives and KPIs to senior management, and planning and providing induction and training courses for employees and contractors. The manager will lead Health & Safety meetings, manage the election of Health & Safety representatives, and liaise with regulatory authorities such as BSI, HSE, and the Fire Service.Your profileCompetent in writing Safe Working Procedures and carrying out risk assessments.Effective Communication SkillsProblem-solving SkillsIn-depth knowledge of regulationsAbility to lead projectsUnderstanding and experience of COSHHAble to manage own workload without supervision and meet deadlinesStakeholder managementPassionate in the promotion of good health, safety and environmental cultureFlexible attitude required to manage the varying requirements of the role
