Environmental Health & Safety Manager – UKG&H Competitive Salary on Offer plus benefitsG&H is a world leader in optical designing, testing and manufacturing. As experts in the technology of light, G&H works with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies, and components for demanding applications. We are looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for the UK. This role will be covering our 5 UK sites; HQ in Somerset, two manufacturing sites in Devon, one in Kent, and an R&D Hub in N.Wales (Candidates will ideally be situated in a commutable distance to one of our SW facilities). As our HSE Manager you will be responsible for developing local site H&S primes to implement HSE programs, procedures, and education initiatives focused on compliance assurance, incident reduction, and risk mitigation. Longer term aims of the role include Initiating and coordinating Environmental emission reduction projects and working with US counterpart in sharing best practice to the wider group, and implementing ISO 14001 across the UK sites.Responsibilities include; Occupational Health & SafetySupport business strategy to ensure all HSE directives, policies, and initiatives are effectively incorporated at site levelAdvise on the development, implementation, and execution of HSE annual objectivesAdvise on appropriate strategies for implementation of new or revised policiesUndertake annual audits/inspections of the sites in line with ISO 45001 as part of best practice (including inspections of machinery, equipment in use, and work systems in operation)Identify HSE training needs and develop appropriate resources, and execute training sessions for employeesAdvise on investigation of HSE incidents at the site. Where necessary, lead investigation process and/or collaborate with appropriate Human Resources staff on serious incidentsPartner with Human Resources to monitor the status of all potential Liability claimsAdvise on and conduct risk assessments and ensure systems are in place for effective corrective actionsEstablish and monitor HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in conjunction with sitesAssess and recommend appropriate H&S software tools and applications to enable cost effective standardisation of working practicesEnsure procedures are in place for records which enable adherence to corporate polices and/or regulatory requirementsAdvise the relevant staff on HSE requirements in the design, introduction, use and decommissioning of manufacturing processes, equipment, and materialsEnvironmentalEnsure a standard procedure is in place across all sites for environmental permits and program requirementsUndertaking energy assessments to ISO 50001 and establishing GHG reduction plansLead implementation and management of ISO 14001 Environmental Management SystemWorking with Supplier Quality Engineers to incorporate any flow down requirementsRecording and analysing consumption and emissions data to meet with SECR (Streamlined Energy & Carbon Reporting) requirementsFacilitate the inputs for the Quarterly Exec. and monthly EH&S ReviewsIdeal candidates will have the following attributes; Ideally holds Bachelor’s degree with ~5 years HSE experience in a manufacturing settingIn depth knowledge of HSE regulations including Health & Safety Executive standards and local requirementsISO 14001 – Internal auditor or Lead assessor qualifiedIdeally has Knowledge and experience with, and systems such as ISO 45001, ISO 50001.NEBOSH certificate / diplomaMultiple site experience would be an advantageExcellent organisational skills and good capability in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)As well as a competitive salary and training, company benefits include;25 days holiday plus bank holidaysCompany pension pays 6%Company bonus schemeHealth Cash Plan
