EPC Director - Renewable Energy Investment & Development Platform

Pangea Talent Solutions has been retained by a global renewable energy development and investment platform which develops and invests in a wide range of utility scale energy assets focussed on solar PV, onshore wind and storage solutions. To support their rapid growth ambitions and long-term ownership of energy assets, they are looking to hire an EPC Director who will be responsible for overseeing all contractual aspects of the engineering, procurement, and construction activities from a technical and commercial perspective, calling on the support of the Legal, Tax, Technical and other functional teams where needed, for their solar and battery storage projects across Europe.This role demands a deep understanding of the pre-construction and construction processes, with a particular emphasis on large-scale solar and battery storage projects. The successful candidate will manage resources, drive contract negotiation and project execution, and ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. A commercial mindset and hands-on project development experience are crucial for this role. This is a London-based role.THE ROLELeading the contractual negotiations and commercial relationship with our construction counterparties. You will need to be skilled in multi department collaboration and calling in the right support from the functional teams when needed. Acting as a point of escalation, unblocking problems and providing guidance to help construction to conclude on-time and on-budget.Lead, establish and maintain strong relationships with EPC partners, leading negotiations to secure favourable terms and ensure high-quality project delivery.Coordinate early-stage project scheduling and resource allocation, ensuring seamless transition to execution stages.Oversee procurement processes to secure critical contracts and equipment, mitigating risks to project schedules and budgets.Conduct and oversee techno-economic evaluations of procurement options to ensure optimal value for money.Manage technical due diligence for new project concepts and M&A opportunities, ensuring all technical aspects are thoroughly vetted.Supervise and coordinate the work of internal and external technical engineering and consulting resources to support project development and execution.Manage all contracts inside to ensure both the company and their partners deliver against all SLAs.Contribute considerable expertise to help build necessary internal processes, tools and capability in construction to support the business so that they are able to meet their ambitious growth targets. Gathering and sharing lessons learned post-project, implementing and defining best practice processes and using technology to ensure your team are working as efficiently as possible.THE CANDIDATEMinimum of 10 years of experience in contracting for construction works (with a focus on EPC contracts), with a strong focus on solar and battery storage projects.Proficient in managing transmission interconnection processes.Demonstrated hands-on experience with large-scale renewable energy projects, particularly solar and battery storage.Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, project management, and construction management principles.Ability to translate technical details into commercial and financial outcomes.Proactive and resourceful, capable of working independently within a small and efficient team.Open-minded and collaborative, skilled in seeking and integrating input from various stakeholders.Highly organised with excellent communication skills, able to convey complex information succinctly and effectively.If this role sounds like a good fit and you'd like to apply, then please do so or you can reach me directly at #####
