A market leading construction contractor that specialises in the delivery of bespoke offices, education, healthcare and retail frameworks across the UK.
The Project
As an experienced Estimating Manager, you will be based from the Leeds office and will have a significant role within the Supply Chain Team overseeing the estimating and tendering process for an array of projects across sectors such as education, healthcare, MoD, MoJ and leisure with values up to £30 million. You will deliver competitive cost estimates working closely with Commercial, Bid Management and Design Management teams to develop the most cost-effective and accurate proposals.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you hold the experience below;
Previous experience working on successful tenders for projects within education, healthcare, MoD or MoJ sectors in an Estimating Manager role or comparable position
Proven history of working on the tendering process of projects with values between £5m - £30m+
Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working for a market leading construction contractor or subcontractor

Significant negotiation capabilities
Superb analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent communication abilities, verbal and written with a keen eye for detail
Ability to efficiently utilise estimation software and tools to generate precise cost forecasts and manage data
In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards to inform accurate cost projections
The Role

Reporting to: Operations Director
Duties
Specification analysis & review
Preparation and submission of tenders
Adjudicating tenders within agreed limits
Knowledge of the build process of the project
Understand company policies and procedures
Preparing bill of quantity / pricing documentation
Reviewing enquiry returns / checking compliance
Collection of pricing elements to form tender sum
Utilize estimation software and tools to produce precise cost forecasts
Negotiate with vendors to secure the best prices for materials and services
Assess and improve estimation procedures to boost accuracy and efficiency
Evaluate the impact of potential changes or unforeseen issues on project costs
Review and ensure accuracy and completeness of all estimates before submission
Engage with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain quotes and verify costs
Modify future estimates based on feedback and performance insights from the project
Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements and company policies
Provide insights and recommendations based on estimating data to senior management
Oversee the creation of bid proposals, providing detailed cost breakdowns and justifications
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, and overheads
Develop and implement estimation strategies and methods, ensuring accurate and competitive bids
Evaluate project plans and specifications to define the scope of work and estimate associated costs
Assist in developing project budgets based on estimates and manage budget adjustments as necessary
Assess estimates following the bid to uncover discrepancies and identify areas for potential improvement
Compile and deliver comprehensive reports on estimates, including comparisons with actual project costs
Collect and analyse data from previous projects, industry trends, and market conditions to inform estimates
Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders, confirming all elements of the project are considered and incorporated into the bid
Mentor and guide estimating team members, providing support to maintain high standards of work and foster professional development
Collaborate with various departments to collect essential information and insights needed to produce precise estimates
Assess possible risks and uncertainties in estimates and develop contingency plans to address and manage them effectively
