Estimator - Groundworks

Title: Estimator (Civils / Groundworks)�

Location: Leicestershire�

Salary: �40k - �60k + Package �
As a Civils / Groundworks Estimator, you will be a key player in both pre-contract and post-contract stages. You will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing the tender process, and handling on-site variations, ensuring that all estimates are both accurate and competitive. This role requires a hands-on estimator with the ability to work from first principles, not relying on pre-set templates.�

Key Responsibilities:�

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects, including domestic and small commercial works.


• Lead the tender process, from initial enquiry through to submission, conducting site visits, quantity take-offs, and pricing.


• Work closely with project managers, buyers, and other team members to ensure estimates are aligned with project needs and budgets.


• Analyse project costs comprehensively, covering materials, labor, and equipment, to produce realistic and competitive estimates.


• Manage post-contract variations, providing updated estimates as required to accommodate project changes.


• Use Excel for cost calculations, with potential integration of Bluebeam software for take-offs.


• Support the team with detailed cost breakdowns and contribute to financial forecasting and reporting.

Candidate Profile:�

• Demonstrated experience in groundworks and civil engineering estimating, with a strong ability to estimate from first principles.


• Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, roadworks, and utilities is essential.


• Strong analytical capabilities to assess project requirements and deliver accurate, competitive estimates.


• Proficiency in Excel is required, and familiarity with estimating software such as Bluebeam is advantageous.


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.


• A meticulous approach to ensure all project aspects are accounted for in estimates.


• Up-to-date with current market rates and industry trends in groundworks estimating.
