Job Title: Quantity Surveyor/Estimator - Fire Door Manufacturing & Installation

Company Overview: Due to significant growth, we are recruiting for an additional experienced QS / Estimator to work alongside our existing Estimating team. Sheens was acquired in 2024 to become the fire door division of Preventr, a group of fire safety businesses. The company has been established over 30 years, and works with most of the major construction companies on a national basis.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced, skilled Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to manage quotes, cost estimation and control for fire door manufacturing and installation projects. The role requires close attention to detail, collaboration with various teams, and a deep understanding of construction costs and materials.
As part of this role, we will also offer you the opportunity to take accredited training to be able to undertake fire door surveys, which is a growth area of our business.
There is big variety of the types of jobs you will be quoting for, ranging from £thousands to £millions in value.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyse project requirements to determine accurate cost estimates.
Collaborate with client project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential information.
Prepare detailed estimates, covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids for competitive pricing.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Review project plans to identify risks or discrepancies.
Present estimates to management and clients in a clear and professional manner.
Maintain accurate records of all estimating activities.
Work alongside our existing QS and our new Sales Operations Analyst to ensure a high level of client service.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a QS / Estimator in the joinery or construction industry.
Familiarity with BMTRADA standards
Experience in the fire safety / fire protection industry (strongly preferred)
Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
Proficiency in using estimating software and tools, as well as CRM and Microsoft (RapidSpec, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Driving licence (preferred).
