The Estimator will be responsible for preparing and delivering accurate cost estimates for a variety of rail infrastructure projects, including: Railway DrainageMinor Geotechnical WorksMinor Permanent Way (PWay) Works, such as Under Track Crossings (UTXs) and wet bed removalsStation Platform WorksOff-Track Works Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for rail civil engineering projects.Utilize industry knowledge and historical data to ensure estimates are realistic and competitive Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify potential cost impactsConduct site visits as necessary to gather information and validate project scope Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements and ensure alignment on scope and costs.Present and justify cost estimates to senior management and clients Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive estimate reports, including detailed breakdowns of costs and assumptionsMaintain organized records of all estimates and related documents for future reference and audits Collaboration: Work closely with the project team to develop efficient and cost-effective project plansParticipate in project meetings and contribute to the development of project strategies Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.Conduct risk assessments and incorporate contingency plans in estimates Requirements: Experience: Demonstrable experience in rail civils estimating is essential Skills: Excellent communication and numeracy skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to command respect and integrate into a professional and friendly team environment Mobility: Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel as required for site visits and client meetings Location and Availability: Must be able to work from the Welwyn Garden City office at least three days a weekPreference will be given to candidates based in the London/Home Counties/South East area to ensure ease of commuting and availability for in-office collaboration Location: Welwyn Garden City, UK Job type: Permanent, Full Time Salary: £75 – 85k If you would like to hear more about this opportunity, please apply with your up-to-date CV, and the Crewit team will contact you!
