An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a reputable fire and security business based in the Birmingham area.
As an Estimator you will play a key role in the pre-sales process, ensuring accurate, timely and competitive cost estimates for customer projects. Experience within Fire and Security would be ideal.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for the installation, maintenance, and servicing of Fire and Security systems.
  • Review project specifications, blueprints, and client requirements to determine the scope of work and associated costs and produce quotations from information supplied by clients, engineers, or personal site visits.
  • Obtain and analyse quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on estimates and proposals.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, project changes, and cost variations. Provide regular reports to management on estimating activities and project status.
  • Provide technical and commercial assistance.
  • Protect the businesses commercial interests by ensuring quotations are produced with profitability in mind.


Skills and Experience required:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in the Fire and Security industry or a related field.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation software and techniques is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Strong prioritisation skills and ability to manage own workload.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Looks for ways to improve and enhance existing systems and processes.
