Randstad Student Support is looking for examination support workers who will support students at Edge Hill University.
As a University Examination Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing assistance to students with disabilities during exams by either reading aloud or acting as a scribe. Your primary role is to ensure that students have equal access to the examination process while maintaining the integrity of the assessment.
Reader Support Responsibilities:
Read aloud exam questions to students upon their request.
Follow the student's instructions regarding when to start and stop reading.
Repeat the question as many times as requested by the student.
Read the exam paper exactly as written, without rephrasing or explaining the content.
Avoid prompting the student about the content of the exam answer.
Scribe Support Responsibilities:
Sit beside the student, as per their preference, and write down answers exactly as dictated by the student, including punctuation as specified.
Read back written content upon the student's request and make changes as instructed.
Assist in drawing, adding to maps, diagrams, graphs, and tables strictly following the student's instructions.
Prompt students to provide spelling of specialist or technical terms.
Maintain an appropriate writing speed, ensuring accuracy in transcribing answers.
Be sensitive to the student's thought process, minimizing interruptions during dictation.
Speak to the student only when necessary, addressing problems such as difficulty hearing or rapid speech.
Requirements
Understanding of and commitment to maintaining exam integrity.
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow precise instructions.
Sensitivity and respect towards students with disabilities.
Patience and adaptability to individual student needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or studying towards a degree.
Previous experience in a similar role or familiarity with academic environments is desirable

Successful applicants will be invited to take part in a telephone assessment followed by a typing test and also interviewed to discuss suitability for the role.
