Exhibitions Associate (Maternity Cover) Company DescriptionVictoria Miro first opened her gallery in Cork Street, Mayfair in 1985. The gallery quickly earned acclaim for showing the work of established and emerging artists from the USA, Europe and Asia, and for nurturing the careers of young artists from the UK. In 2000 Victoria Miro relocated to a former furniture factory situated between Hoxton and Islington in northeast London. With exhibition spaces on two floors, the gallery is unique in London for having its own beautifully landscaped water garden, overlooking a restored stretch of the Regent's Canal at Wenlock Basin. In October 2006 the gallery expanded further by opening a second exhibition and viewing space in an adjoining building on Wharf Road. In May 2017, Victoria Miro opened a third space in the heart of Venice,Italy.Job descriptionA key member of the Exhibitions team supporting gallery artists for both external museum and Victoria Miro gallery exhibitionsAlongside Directors of Exhibitions work to facilitate artist’s exhibitions both in-house and external museum and gallery showsAssist with preparing artist loan lists and other materials needed for museum exhibitions as requestedAttend artist and curatorial meetings when required together with Directors of Exhibitions and follow up action pointsLiaise with artists, their studios and curators as requiredLead on specific exhibitions and projects as requiredServe as the primary point of contact with respect to Exhibitions for a set of gallery artistsUndertake research for both internal and external exhibitions as requestedRespond to image requests related to Exhibitions (alongside Photographic Rights and Reproduction Manager and Exhibitions Coordinator)Develop exhibition proposals or artist presentations/portfolios as requestedSupport production and assist with proof-reading of both VM and external publicationsAssist with proof-reading content for press releases and VM Exhibitions programme newslettersAttend private views and gallery events when requested, this may require travelAttend external project meetings when requested, this may require travelOther administrative tasks to be discussedDetailsMust have three years experience in a similar roleThis position is a Maternity Cover role on a 12-month contract.Working in the London gallery offices a minimum of three days per week.
