Facilities Manager - Independent School
Location: Gerrards Cross
Salary: �25,000 - �30,000 per annum

Dunbar Education is seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to join an esteemed independent school located in Gerrards Cross. This role is vital in ensuring that the school's facilities are maintained to a high standard, creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of the school's buildings, grounds, and facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of the facilities team, including caretakers, maintenance staff, and cleaners.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks, risk assessments, and emergency drills.
  • Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance schedules and manage reactive maintenance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee the security of the school premises, including managing alarm systems, key control, and out-of-hours access.
  • Manage the school's waste disposal and recycling processes, and ensure the grounds are kept clean and presentable.
  • Coordinate the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events, meetings, and functions.
  • Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring all expenditures are accounted for and within budget.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and identify opportunities for cost and energy savings.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience in a similar facilities management role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, pupils, contractors, and visitors.
  • A proactive approach, with a problem-solving attitude and attention to detail.
  • IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and facilities management software.
  • A commitment to maintaining the school's values and ethos.
