Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Children and Families Team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and protection to children and families in need, ensuring their safety and well-being are paramount.

Your Role:

As a Fieldwork Social Worker in our Children and Families Team, you will be a vital link in supporting children, young people, and their families.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct Work with Children and Families: Building strong and trusting relationships with children, young people, and families, providing them with the necessary support, guidance, and interventions.
  • Case Management: Taking responsibility for a caseload of children and families, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Promoting Wellbeing: Working with children and families to address their needs, reduce risk factors, and promote positive outcomes.
  • Multi-agency Collaboration: Collaborating effectively with other professionals and agencies involved in a child's care, including health services, education providers, and youth justice services.
  • Promoting Positive Change: Encouraging positive change within families, empowering them to make choices that support the wellbeing of their children.

Key Requirements:


  • Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
  • Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
  • Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
  • Experience in Child Protection: Demonstrated experience working with children and families experiencing difficulties, with a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles and practices.
  • Excellent Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.
