Responsibilities & Duties:

The core function of a Finance Manager is simple: maintain efficient financial management and financial controls necessary to support all business activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing all aspects of the Finance department, including line management. 

Delivering commercial analysis and insight into the P&L to help inform decision-making of the Management Team

Developing monthly management information reports for both Freelance Surgical and the wider business

Providing hands-on assistance with day-to-day financial and accounting processes, including sales invoice processing, purchase ledgers, bank reconciliations, credit control, and more

Managing accounting records in SAGE 200 and preparing quarterly VAT returns and filing

Undertake Payroll using SAGE 50, complete the Payroll Year End and prepare P11ds and NIC1A

Running all aspects of month, quarter, and end-of-year management accounts

Liaising with company accountants on the preparation of the company accounts and corporation tax reporting

Supporting with annual budget-setting processes

Offering input in future growth planning and creation and analysis of business plans for projects.



Skills & Attributes:

If you have a mix of the following skills and attributes, you might be just who we’re looking for:

Have strong technical accounting skills, ideally familiar and competent in SAGE 200

Hold Minimum AAT II or ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualification

Have experience and understanding of being hands-on in an SME environment

Can effectively balance involvement in day-to-day running of the Finance function with a strategic, future-focused approach

Learns quickly and understands how a business operates to spot opportunities for improvement

Works effectively with a diverse team at all levels and is not afraid to challenge the status quo

Can comfortably translate financial information into simple and clear language for a variety of audiences

Has a strong sense of ownership and accountability for all tasks, no matter how big or small

Operates with a growth mindset, accepting that things aren’t always perfect and looking for solutions to help with continuous improvement across the business.
