If we had a pound for every time candidates expressed their desire to work for an organisation that gives back to the community...
Many people seek a role with a sense of purpose that makes a positive impact, and we're thrilled to share an exciting opportunity that offers just that.
We are looking for a Finance Manager to join a well-established cultural institution in Durham, known for its commitment to preserving and celebrating the region's rich heritage. This organisation plays a vital role in the community, attracting visitors from across the UK. This is a unique chance to take on a key financial leadership position in a dynamic and inspiring environment.
In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the finance function, leading a team of four responsible for accounts payable, payroll, cash collections, and general ledger support. You will take full ownership of the general ledger and monthly management accounts, ensuring reports are delivered accurately and on time. Managing weekly payment runs, preparing quarterly VAT returns, and submitting monthly Gift Aid claims will be essential aspects of your responsibilities.
Additionally, you will support the Finance Director in executing system improvement projects including the planned future implementation of a new Finance System. Your commitment to developing your skills and those of your team members will be key to your success.
About You:
You'll have experience in leading and managing a team and be able to adapt and think on your feet.
An enthusiastic approach and excellent work ethic are essential, along with keen attention to detail to uphold the highest standards.
You may be a qualified accountant, or you may be "qualified by experience" having achieved part-qualified status in CIMA, ACCA or ACA or having completed AAT.
If you have experience and knowledge of the charity sector that would be helpful, but it's not essential.
What's on Offer:
Knowing that your work is purpose-led and driven by a clear mission, you'll play a vital role in a leading charity dedicated to preserving heritage and making a positive impact on the community.
Whilst the role is office-based, it will also offer some flexibility.
The organisation offers a generous pension scheme and exclusive staff discounts, ensuring you feel valued and rewarded.
You'll join a supportive, collaborative work environment where professional development and growth are encouraged.
This is your chance to contribute to something meaningful while advancing your career in a dynamic and inspiring setting.
