Financial Controller | Greater Manchester (North) | �40,000 - �50,000 plus benefits, 28 days holiday, career development | High Growth SME

This is a very successful privately owned business with several different divisions including luxury holiday lets, property portfolio and a retail business. The successful candidate will join a business owned by successful entrepreneurial characters and opens the door to many opportunities moving forward.

About the role

The role will be based in North Manchester and take control of the everyday running of finance from transactional finance to budgeting & forecasting and managing year end. The successful candidate will be able to start at short notice, will be a qualified accountant or with significant FM/FC experience and be able to hit the ground running quickly in a fast paced environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, bank reconciliations, and VAT returns (if required) using Xero.
  • Conduct financial analysis, cash flow reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements and investigate variances.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and manage intercompany transfers.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and support year-end audit preparations.
  • Maintain general ledger in line with GAAP and company policies.
  • Improve processes and controls for better reporting accuracy.
  • Support ad hoc projects and collaborate with senior leadership.

Candidate profile

  • Accountancy qualification or relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience with a proven track record in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller role.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Xero.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Results-focused with the ability to drive measurable outcomes.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to work independently with urgency and minimal supervision.
  • Strong alignment with company values and culture.
  • Exceptional accuracy and problem-solving abilities.
