Role: Financial Services Team Leader

Location: Leicestershire - Hybrid 1 to 2 days a week in the office, flexible hours

Duration: Contract 3-6 Months

Salary: Competitive day rate inside IR35

Sellick Partnership is currently recruiting for a Financial Services Team Leader for a Local Government organisation based in Leicestershire.

We require someone to lead and manage the Financial Services function (accounts receivable, accounts payable, income collection, bank reconciliation, VAT and payroll) to deliver an efficient and effective service and the provision of services in respect of all insurance matters including arrangements for ensuring adequate cover is in place, timely administration of claims and contract management. The most important aspects are managing staff and previous experience of payroll.

The duties of the Financial Services Team Leader include:

  • Maintaining a high standard of customer service throughout the Financial Services team
  • Acting as a main point of contact for the Council in relation to Financial Services functions
  • Acting as the authority's lead for employer related tax and VAT
  • Acting as one of the Council's authorised bank signatories
  • Administration of the Council's bank account and Corporate Credit Card and associated online systems
  • Supporting the Systems Accountant with the administration and development of the finance systems
  • Developing the team, ensuring a culture of excellent customer service is a key focus
  • Growing talent and capability in the team by undertaking all employee appraisals timely and effectively, addressing any issues as appropriate
  • Building pride, passion and reputation by creating a Council of excellence through strong motivational leadership
  • Challenging and driving performance to create an excellent service and Council
  • Always seeing the service through the eyes of the customer and make suggestions for improvement where appropriate
  • Ensuring high standards of health and safety practice are maintained in accordance with council policy, including the health and safety and welfare at work of themselves, staff under their supervision (including casual and agency workers), and colleagues
  • Promoting the Council's Equality and Diversity Policy to ensure service provision and employment practices are non-discriminatory
  • Participating in the Council's appraisal scheme and to undertake any necessary training and development as identified for the job role
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks appropriate to the grading of the post and as required by the line manager.

The ideal Financial Services Team Leader will:

  • Have experience within a public sector organisation
  • Have previous experience in a similar role
  • Have experience with line management
  • Have experience in Payrolls, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems and procedures for a minimum of 2 years
  • Be AAT qualified or equivalent.

The Financial Services Team Leader will need to have excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. They will also need to able to prioritise their workload and be efficient and effective to meet changing and tight deadlines
