About the Role:

My client are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a variety of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. You will work across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial properties, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Conduct regular testing, inspections, and preventative maintenance of fire and security systems to ensure they meet industry standards.
  • Diagnose and repair faults and system issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform on-site risk assessments and surveys to recommend appropriate fire and security solutions.
  • Ensure all work adheres to British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN 50131) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support, guidance, and training to clients on the operation and functionality of fire and security systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, maintenance records, and certification.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality service and build strong client relationships.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for emergency response and support when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Fire and Security Engineer or in a similar role, with expertise in fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fire and security equipment from various manufacturers.
  • Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs to a high standard.
  • Familiarity with relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.
Desirable:
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI, or SSAIB).
  • Experience with IP-based and networked fire and security systems.
  • Knowledge of emergency lighting systems and integrated security solutions.
  • ECS/CSCS card or equivalent safety certification.
