About the Role:
My client are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a variety of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems. You will work across a range of sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial properties, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, and maintain fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Conduct regular testing, inspections, and preventative maintenance of fire and security systems to ensure they meet industry standards.
- Diagnose and repair faults and system issues promptly and efficiently.
- Perform on-site risk assessments and surveys to recommend appropriate fire and security solutions.
- Ensure all work adheres to British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS EN 50131) and other regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and training to clients on the operation and functionality of fire and security systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including service reports, maintenance records, and certification.
- Work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality service and build strong client relationships.
- Participate in an on-call rota for emergency response and support when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Fire and Security Engineer or in a similar role, with expertise in fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of fire and security equipment from various manufacturers.
- Ability to diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and carry out repairs to a high standard.
- Familiarity with relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Full UK driving license is essential.
Desirable:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI, or SSAIB).
- Experience with IP-based and networked fire and security systems.
- Knowledge of emergency lighting systems and integrated security solutions.
- ECS/CSCS card or equivalent safety certification.
