Location: South-East London



Salary: Up to £40k basic depending on experience

Job Description



We are looking for a competent HGV Fitter to join our Transport Department to ensure our fleet of vehicles run effectively. Working on a range of HGV’s from Skip turcks, RoRo’s and Dustcarts, the Fitter will apply their knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems to identify problems, carry out repairs if possible, and carry out preventive maintenance. All the vehicles are on R&M for major repairs when needed.



Responsibilities:



- Perform regular maintenance on HGVs.



- Identify and fix mechanical and/or electrical issues with HGVs and/or PSVs.



- Soldering, and welding jobs as required for auto repairs.



- General maintenance duties as needed.



- Get vehicles ready for their MOT.



- Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is accurately documented.



- Keep work station clean and tidy.



Deliver vehicles to Workshop for R&M when required



Competencies and Credentials



- Excellent mechanical understanding and the capacity to diagnose and fix vehicles quickly.



- Expertise with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic tools.



- Capacity to identify problems and offer workable answers.



- Experience in fabrication, soldering, and welding processes for fixing cars.



- Outstanding customer service abilities with an emphasis on meeting client needs.



City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ, or a related qualification in the maintenance and repairs of commercial vehicles



- HGV licence preferable
