Role Summary:
The role of the Area Engineer is to provide support to units in the area, ensuring relationships between the suppliers and units are kept to a professional standard, auditing all internal vehicles and external suppliers to ensure dnata are getting the best service. Assisting units with paperwork and periodically auditing units on all aspects of keeping the fleet road legal
Responsibilities:
Assisting units with keep planners and paperwork is up to date and legal
Ensuring VOR is kept to a minimum
Organise key stake holder meetings and chair meetings
Audit paperwork on units
Audit out inspections of HGV vehicles
Plan and supervise daily activities for 3rd party suppliers
Ensure daily requirement of vehicles to serve the customer
Assist in engineering queries where required
Attend all sites periodically to ensure safe activities are being carried out
Ensure MOT and vehicle performance is maximised
Chair regular unit reviews
Query maintenance costs and delays
Spot check vehicles and audit driver first use checks
Subject matter for any engineering queries / issues
Work with repair agencies to improve service and reduce vehicle downtime
Assist in implementing changes to ensure standardisation across all units
Selection Criteria
Must have previous experience of working with LGV/HGV/PSV vehicles in a workshop environment
Experience of leading a team, preferable in a workshop environment
Confident with computer skills
Possess a clean driving licence
Extensive knowledge of the HGV sector
Extensive knowledge of the DVSA/O license legal obligation
Confident taking responsibility for leading and motivating teams, delegating management responsibility appropriately whilst ensuring accountability for decision making.
Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to define strategy for resources and performance within a leadership role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain beneficial working relationships with multiple stakeholders, confident liaising with decision makers at all levels.
Ability to make informed and objective decisions that are consistent with the needs of the wider business, considering relevant internal and external contributors.
An articulate communicator, confident liaising with decision makers at all levels with strong negotiation skills and with the ability to inform, persuade and influence.
Good presentation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade a varied audience with a combination of effective content and appropriate delivery.

Desirable Criteria:
Experience or knowledge of working in aviation
IRTEC qualification
IOSH/NEBOSH trained
