Job overview
Reporting to the Head of Buying & Supply Chain, the Food Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring all products on site are in line with internal and external quality, legal and safety standards.
You will be based full time, at our Operations site in Shepton Mallet, and spend a large part of your working day in the intake area of our distribution fridge.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for Overseeing day to day food safety, duties include but are not limited to:
Management of the FSMS (Food Safety Management System), ensuring policies and procedures are kept up to date (by working with an external food safety consultant) and ensuring staff are given both initial and refresher training as required
Form part of the HACCP team
Ownership of internal auditing, weekly and monthly, and supporting in EHO and SALSA audits.
To provide prompt and appropriate responses and resolutions to any food safety issues
Continuously improving the product standards to drive down product complaints, including, but not limited to, uploading new pictures into specification documents and refreshing documentation whilst providing clear and consistent communication with the Operations and Customer Service team.
Overseeing food safety rules & regulations and ensuring all teams are maintaining a clean and safe working environment, including the maintenance of onsite equipment.
Overseeing the intake and purchasing process. Conducting thorough inspections of incoming product to ensure they meet defined specifications, labelling requirements, and are sourced from approved suppliers.
Probe calibration and scale calibration checks.
Supporting the Supply Chain team in maintaining supplier assurance records, including documentation, and ensuring information across the product specifications, website, and labelling is consistent.
Ownership of labelling and allergen control
To-Farm supply chain traceability testing
Communication with Suppliers on improving and managing day-to-day issues, including returns of any ‘out of specification’ products.
Next-day amendment in ERP system (intake issues, returns and stock issues)
To continuously improve your knowledge of the products Field & Flower retails
Key requirements
Food Safety Level 2 and/or HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control)
Experience in the food industry
Experience of the goods in process in a food business, ideally fresh food
Computer literate
Experience as custodian of site quality standards
Preferred
Hands on experience in the meat industry or butchery experience
Experience of health and safety.
