Job Position:Food Safety Technologist Department: Technical Reports to:Laboratory ManagerHours:40 hours per week Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses such as Marks & Spencer, Morrisons and Waitrose in the UK. The Food Safety Technologist will report to theLaboratory Managerand be part of the established Technical team. The post holder will ensure that food products are manufactured safely, legally and to specific, high quality standards. Key Responsibilities Compilation and trending of microbiological results Updating and reviewing product, water and swab results using excel with visual trending Updating and reviewing shelf life microbiological results Maintaining ongoing result and trend files for presenting at customer audits Investigating microbiological failures and corrective action implementation New product allergen risk assessment/ alibi labelling for new products risk assessment Ongoing review of allergen risk assessment and staying up to date with industry standards, allergen regulations and customer policies Completing allergen validation and verification swabs and review of results Assist in preparation and take part in customers visits and audits Ensuring finished products meet all microbiological standards Review customer code of practice and ensure ongoing compliance Support other functions within the technical team when required Essential Criteria A third level Food Science or microbiological qualification Working in a fast-paced environment, delivering high quality standard of work with minimal direction. Excellent communicator with the ability to engage at all levels IT literate proficient in MS package. Exceptional time management and organisation skills Analytical approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present information Desirable Criteria At least 1-years experience of working within a technical environment Experience of working within the Food Manufacturing industry.
