Food Technology Teacher
Location: Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire
Start Date: April 2025 or sooner
Contract: Maternity Cover, Part-Time, 0.6 Timetable

GSL Education is working closely with a community secondary school in North Yorkshire, approximately 16 miles north of York, to appoint a part-time Food Technology Teacher. This is a great opportunity to join a thriving secondary school 3 days a week.

As the ideal Food Technology Teacher, you should have:


  • Recent experience planning and delivering theoretical and practical Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and GCSE levels.
  • The ability toplan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the National Curriculum.
  • A strong knowledge of food science, nutrition, and cooking techniques.
  • The ability to work with pupils of different abilities, including those with SEND.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.

Minimum Food Technology Teacher requirements:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS obtained through a PGCE, School Direct, or Teach First programme.
  • A Design Technology related Degree.
  • An Enhanced DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service) registered to the update service, or the willingness to apply for a new one. DBS sponsorship is available for this position.
  • The legal Right to Work in the UK, along with an up-to-date CV including a 10 year career history.
  • Reference information covering the last two years of employment. Placements will be accepted for ECTs.
