Cranleigh STEM is working with a leading chemical brand that has an exciting opportunity for a Formulation Chemist to join the team. Your role will be to develop high-performance products to support clients in their sports performance division. To be considered, you must have previous experience in the development of cleaning products, lubricants or similar.
About the Role
The primary objective of this position is to serve as the expert in formulation chemistry, contributing to a dynamic and growing R&D team. This team is responsible for developing high-performance products, including race-winning lubricants and formulas used at the top levels of competition. As a formulation chemist, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative products for bicycles and motorcycles, such as cleaning solutions, washes, polishes, and lubricants.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead technical projects related to cleaning products
* Design, test, and develop new cleaning products
* Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to ensure efficient, timely product development
* Create testing and characterization protocols
* Maintain detailed project records
* Manage laboratory equipment and resources
* Work closely with the R&D team to support the development of additional products
Ideal Candidate:
* Holds a Master’s/PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
* Experienced in developing formulated products such as cleaning solutions and lubricants
* Able to critically review technical data and literature
* Proficient in chemical characterization techniques like FTIR and Gas Chromatography
* Experienced in a laboratory setting with solid lab management skills, including chemical handling and COSHH assessments
* Possesses a hands-on approach to project execution and problem-solving
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Competent in IT, with experience writing technical reports
